  1. Most farmers in this district grow potatoes because they are his principal food and his principal crop.
    The average acreage under potatoes each year often varies. The amount sown depends upon the size of the farm the man has, also on the number of family he has to support, and on the number he has to help him. The amount sown annually is an acre and a half on average.
    Land intended for potatoes is cultivated in the following way:-
    If it is ready arable land it is ploughed in the beginning of spring and made into drills. If it is rough or mountainous it is dug by
