  1. A Song

It is years ago, dear Erin

It is years ago, dear Erin
since I took a fond adieu
Your valleys green and mountains fair
    and ships of azure blue
Many a loss and many a cross
    I had to undergo
Since first I saw old Nephin hill
on the plains of sweet Mayo.
Well I can remember the grove of Carrowkeel
And all around old Nephin hill
    from Thristia to the Deel
It is now I think and often
    wonder if there be
One dear old friend among the rest
    that would still remember me.
