    The floor is made of concrete and the walls are plastered and whitewashed both inside and outside.
    Along the back wall and the two gables there is a roost about two feet wide and two and a half feet from the ground. On the roost the hens lie at night. We have three or four boxes for the hens to lay in and we keep a litter of straw both on the ground and on the roost.
    The hens are fed twice a day on potatoes, meal, and oats. In winter and spring when the weather is cold we generally heat the oats in a basin or pan before giving it to them. They are fed in a small
