  1. The forge we go to is Tom Murphy's. He is a married man and is living in a good slated house in the village of Derryhillagh, to the north-west of Nephin, and in the Parish of Crossmolina.
    He is a good blacksmith and gets good call. He works nearly all his time in the forge but he has a farm of land also, and his sons work on it, but when he is not busy in the forge, he helps his sons with the agricultural work.
    His son Eddie also works at the trade. He (the father) learned the trade from his father, Ned Murphy, who is dead some twenty years.
