house belonging to a Mrs. Walshe and occupied by her and her son caught fire a few years ago. The neighbours helped to save the out houses and the household furniture.
The hosiery factory in Balbriggan was burned in the troubled times when the Black and Tans were here. A number of hands were out of work for a great period.
Mr. Sheery's house at Gormanstown was burned to the ground when the household was having tea. They got time to escape without any injury but nothing else was saved. It was a lovely summer's evening. A thunder and lightning storm came on. Lightning struck the house and burnt its contents to the ground.
