In this locality the people believe in a simple cure for Mumps. A person puts a horses halter on the one that is sick and leads him to a stream. Here the man or woman who leads the sick person throws some water on him and he soon recovers. The parents of the one who cures had the same surname before marriage.
Next door to my home in the townland of Carrowtrasna in the Parish of Gartan there is a lady named Mrs Mary Doohan who cures Mumps in this way. My sister Florrie was cured by her.
