    Mr. J. F. O'Donnell Burtonport says.
    I was an applicant for the position of monitor in Acres Boys School, Burtonport, in the year 1877, the teacher of which was Michael Boyle, Acres, better known as Michey the master. I was sent over to Kincaslagh a distance of 6 miles to see Father Dan O'Donnell. (Big Father Dan) the then Parish priest of the Lower Rosses in Lower Templecrone.
    When I arrived at the priest's house Father Dan's housekeeper told me that the priest was not in, that he was down in the
