  1. Ard na Teamhrach
    Long ago in the year 800 when the Danes were in Ireland, in Lower Cruit there was a very high hill.
    This hill was very bare and rocky but you could get a fine view of the sea and the country for miles around
    When the Danes saw this hill they built a tower there, so that they could see an enemy approaching from the sea.
    They could also make signals to each other by lighting fires on this hill.
    The remains of the tower is still to be seen, and from that day to this it has got the name Ard na Teamhrach or the Hill of the Tower.
