  1. St. Brigid's Day.
Crosses are made of rushes or of rushes and straw mixed. Theses are placed in house over beds and windows and byres over cows so as to ensure that no bad luck will come during year. A few people still honour the custom of sending the bean a toighe outside for the rushes that have been left bat the doorstep. She knocks at the door and says
    Gabhaigidh ar muir a ghlúnnaibh
    Fosclaigidh muir súilí agus
    leigigidh isteach Brighidh.
The Fear a toighe answers Sé beatha. This is repeated three times before the woman comes in.
    Patrick's Days.
Only custom connected with this feast is the wearing of the shamrock.
