  1. There was a song composed about the Aurora and the following lines are given below as they were got from Tom Boyd. (Age - 72 years) Laccaduff.
    It was on the twenty first of April
    We sailed from Belfast town
    Bound for Quebec harbour, my brave boys
    That place of high renown
    To count us all both great and small
    Our number being seventy one
    It was enough to have been wrecked
    Upon sweet Loughros strand
    Nine young sailors aboard her
    The captain and his wife
    Sixty more poor passengers
    Were enough to lose their life
    It was early by the break of day
    She came sailing to the strand
    The sailors and the Loughros men
    Came safe unto the land
    When the captain and his lady
    Arrived upon the strand
    She was both cold and wet
    With her lap dog in her arms
    She said unto the captain
