  1. One day in the year 1937 Patrick Kelly of the Roose was out fencing. His spade struck something hard. He unearthed it to see what it was and he found a small stone about 12 inches by 10 inches. The back and sides of this stone were roughly dressed but the face was dressed more smoothly.
    He examined the stone more closely and he found these words written on it :- Here lies the remains of ALLAN CRAIG. h.o.".[?] Below this inscription there is a rough scratching on the stone as if the date on which the body was interred was written there. This stone is made of granite.
