  1. In olden times when the people weren't able to pay the rent the soldiers used to come riding on grey horses to evict them. They used to pull down a couple of straws out of the roof and burn them and the tenants dare not go back to that house again.
    A story is told about a man who lived in the townland of Dumbarron; his name was Pat Clancy. He was married and had a family of seven. They lived in a little thatched house. The rent was very high and the Clancy family weren't able to afford to pay it.
    The landlord was the Marquis of Conyningham. His residence was near Mountcharles. He had an agent whose name was Russel and he lived in the Hallhouse at the foot of Mountcharles.
    This man was very cruel
