  1. In this district the time of the year in which most marriages take place are before Advent or Lent. The 13th of any month is considered [an] unlucky day to get married on. It is also considered unlucky to do anything.
There is a rhyme in this district in connection with marriages.
    Monday for health.
    Tuesday for wealth.
Wednesday the best day of all.
    Thursday for losses.
    Friday for crosses.
    Saturday no day atall.
Consequently the last three days of the week are considered unlucky to get married on. I was unable to find out if matches were made in this district long ago. Very few girls get stock or money nowadays.
Long ago there was a rhyme regarding the clothes which the Bride wore.
    Something old,
    Something new,
    Something borrowed,
    Something blue.
