    “As the sun goes down in the western skies
    I sit by my shady door.
    I think of those far over the sea
    Perhaps I may see no more.
    I think of the childish pastimes.
    But youth seems now a dream.
    As in fancy I roam
    By my fathers home
    In dear old Meenadreen.

    Right do I remember
    When I was but a boy
    How I’d herd the flock ‘round Doherty’s rock
    My heart was filled with joy.
