  1. A Song

You friends of truth and justice

    I
You friends of truth and justice
    Throughout green Erins Isle
    I humbly crave attention
And ask you for a while,
    Through Christian zeal and fervency
    To join my mournful wail
For the loss of Micheal Herrighty
    Who died in Lifford gail.
    II
For the murder of Lord Leitrim
    One sunny April morning
From house and home and kith and kin
    He ruthlessly was torn
And mere suspicion of the crime
    By which it is confessed.
He was as guiltless as a newborn babe
    Upon its mother’s breast.
