  1. One stormy day an old man came into Donegal to draw the Relief. At that time they got five shillings (or a crown) a week.
    He was asked could he write and he replied “No.” The boy in the office said “You can make your makr so touch the pen.”
    “Now” said the boy “it is very hard for you to come to the town this stormy day to make that little cross.”
    “Well” said the old man, “No cross, no crown, my boy.”
