  1. Once there was a girl hired in a house in the Pettigo. She always gave some of her pay for mass offerings for the souls in purgatory. One day when she was leaving her place, as her time was up, she found that she had only a few shillings left.
    At first she wasn’t going to give it for a mass offering, but then she went back to the priest’s house and gave it.
