  1. Charr, a specimen of Alpine salmon are caught in great numbers with bait in Lough Eske during spawning season (November) when they come close to the shore.
    They are general of a uniform size weighing about two lbs. and are said to have been put there by the Franciscans. They are found in one other lake in Ireland, somewhere in [Westmeath ?].
