    It was on the above named hill which commands a view of the passage through Barnesmore Gap and away towards Donegal town that the sentries kept a lookout for the Redcoats in the penal times, while the priests (ar a Seachnadh) celebrated Mass in the neighboring fastnesses of Cullinboy.
    Gráinne Ní Bhaoghaill when a very old old woman told the following story (in Irish o course) to Patk. Callaghan who was about ten years old at the time. Callaghan died about eleven years ago at the age of 71.
    The people of Townawilly were eagerly looking forward to attending Christmas Mass in Cullinboy. The women folk of the district had rush candles in readiness beforehand, and when the Great Day arrived they were off to
