  1. It is supposed that there is treasure hidden in the tunnel which connects Donegal Castle with Donegal Abbey. These two buildings were two of the most important in Ireland in the sixteenth century and the Castle was reputed to be the strongest in the land.
    It is not surprising then considering their importance in bygone days that valuable treasure is hidden in the tunnel connecting the Abbey and the Castle. The treasure consists of a crock of gold. Attempts have been made to get the treasure but they have failed.
