  1. Long ago when the O'Donnells left Donegal and fled to France there is a tradition in Townawilly that they hid all their treasure on an island in Lough Bell Shade
    Lough Bell Shadeis an island situated in a little valley between two mountains about seven miles from DonegalTown. The lake is very high above sea level. It is supposed that the treasure was taken to the island by the monks. There is a story told that when they were crossing the lake in a boat some bells that they had with them
