- In the far-off days old people had their treasures in order that no other people could get at them. Gold is supposed to be hid under a big stone on the side of the moneymore road. Three pots of gold is said to be buried under that stone. A serpent is said to be guarding it. People have made lots of attempts to remove the stone but they could not move it. The field belongs to McVitty’s.

- Long ago when gold was plentiful our ancestors if they owned any were afraid to keep it in their houses so they buried it in fields and under trees lest it should be stolen. The faries or some person or beast were said to guard it.(continues on next page)
