  1. About one hundred years ago Pat and Brigid Gillen swam from the quay at Mullinasole to the Mark for cockles.
    The mark is a soft bed of sand which lies half ways between Mullinasole and Mountcharles. These two people were very fond of cockles so they got a basket and the two set off for a basket full of them.
    Brigid was not as good a swimmer as Pat so she was
