    A stye on the eye is supposed to be cured by touching it with a gooseberry thorn.

    A fright is also a cure for the hiccough.
    A cure for the ringworm is to rub the affected part with ashes which have been taken from a smoked pipe.
    A cure for the measles is to drink a mixture of whiskey and garlic.
