  1. Long ago some people were supposed to have the power to change themselves into animals such as hares so that they could take away the butter and milk from their neighbours. One day there was a woman churning milk and while doing so she heard a noise outside. Out she went and saw a hare on the street, so going into the house she got the gun and shot the hare on the leg. Next day she went into her neighbours house and saw that the woman was quite lame and unable to walk.
    From that day out she knew that it was this woman who had taken her butter as she was a witch who could, when she pleased, turn herself into a hare.
