  1. About five miles from our house in the townland of Laghey Bar. Laghey (Post Office) Co Donegal there is a lake called "Loch Máire Boyle." It got its name in the following way. In olden times there was a woman named Mary Boyle living near to the lake. One day she was pulling heather on the brink of the loch when her foot slipped and falling into the deep water she was drowned. From that time on the loch was known as "Loch Máire Boyle."
