  1. In the townland of Birrah, to the west side of the village of Ballintra my father has a farm. On the top of the hill there, there is a Fort. Another hill close by is called Orisan. The tide at one time came up past the place to a little port which was at that time called Port-gormley.
    In the year 1846, to give imployment to the men, a bar was built across the narrower part of the inlet and it is still called the car of Bunlin.
