    There was a grievious famine all over this country.

    There was a grievous famine all over this country. There were more people living in this district in that time than are nowadays. When the potatoes were about a month set, they used to rot in the ground. The people had corn, rye, and barley and they used to make bread of this. There were thousands that died of hunger and others that died after eating, for they were too long fasting and their stomach was not able to bear it. In those years the people used to roast frogs and snails but, nowadays, they have potatoes.

    In the olden times, the people used to eat only two meals in the day. At that time they used to have no tea at all. In the morning, they used to eat oat meal bread and butter and a bowl of milk.
