“In the olden times there was a church in Eglish.”
In the olden times there was a church in Eglish. This church was made from rock and there was no roof on it. The altar was made from a round rock and two square ones. At this time the churches were called scaláns. The name of this place where this church was built was called the Bréagha Bán. The people say that before that Finn Mc Cumhall fired three rocks from the top of Banachar and the three fell in the same place. These rocks are to be seen yet in Eglish. Meenataggart got its name from priests that were there long ago. There were two priests that spent there(continues on next page) - Collector
