There was a school in the townland of Tullylark in a small house. There was no furniture at all in the school, the pupils took a stool with them and sat on it. There was reading, writing, and arithmetic taught in the school. They used quill pens. The master lodged in each child’s home. His food was the only reward he got for his instruction. There were no blackboards in this school. The master’s name was Brimstone and he belonged to the district. This school was closed probably about 80 years ago.
