- One autumn about 1897 there was a great storm. The wind tossed all the corn stacks that were out in the fields and the roods were taken off the houses and trees were rooted up and traffic was impossible.There was a terrible rainfall about 1892. The rivers overflowed their banks and the floods were out over the land. It left the land covered with gravel.About 1917 there was a great drought and all the crops were destroyed. The grass in the fields was turned brown with the heat [sic]
