  1. Lough Derg is situated in Co Donegal. It is the place where pilgrims from all parts come to do penance for their sins.
    It is four miles from Pettigo. The lough is surrounded by mountains, and the water looks dark and even on calm days the waves are high.
    It is only a mile from the mainland to the island.
    The people go over to a Chapel which is built on the Island in a very large boat which takes sixteen men to row.
