- (continued from previous page)chatting so he thought he had better bid them good night and he said “Good night boys,” and they said “Good night Jimmy, are you not coming for a ride?” “I might go,” said Jimmy “but I have no horse.” “Oh!” said one “we won’t be long getting you one.” So he jumped down off his own horse. There was a lime kiln close by with ribs or timber covering it. The fairy [?] took off one of those ribs and all at once it turned into a lovely white horse and he said “Jump up Jimmy.” Before he knew any more he was away riding in the midst of them. They rode on laughing and chatting all the time. Jimmy went over mountains rivers and bogs and the horses could jump clear over all. They rode on during what (seeing) seemed a very long time to Jimmy. They crossed over Crocahopple [?] Hill and came to Legaltion Lough. When they came to the edge Jimmy was sure he was going to be drowned but instead all the horses leaped clear over it. Jimmy was so delighted with his horse that he shouted out “Well leaped kiln rib!” But when he said this his fairy horse vanished and so did all the fairies, and there poor Jimmy was left sitting on the rib of his own lime kiln beside Legaltion Lough. When daylight appeared he had to walk three miles back home.
