    Signs of Rain
To hear the crickets chirp loudly
To see the swallows fly about so low as to almost touch the ground.
When the smoke blows down the chimney again this is known as a blow-down.
To see a number of crows gathered together in a field
To see a dog eating grass.
To see a cat sitting with her back to the fire.
To see large numbers of midges in the evening.
To see a blue blaze in the fire foretells a storm.
A far away ring around the moon foretells a near storm.
A cloudy sky is a sign of rain.
Far away hill seeming near is a sign of rain.
