  1. One of the kinds of lamps used not so long ago. Was a lamp made in a bottle. The bottle was filled first with oil and the top corked tight. A hole was put in the middle of the cork and through this hole came the wick. The wick was made from a piece of cotton wool Many of these lamps are to be had yet.
