When the road from Ballyshannon to Belleek was first made it was built nearer the river Erne than the present one. The road had been built for about a mile when it was discovered that it was dangerous being too near the river. The road was restarted higher up. The remains of the old road is still to be seen at the back of Cassidy’s house which is situated at “Erne View.”
