  1. Mr P. Slevin is known to be one of Ballyshannon’s strongest men. This man lives in Bachelors Walk Ballyshannon. He is said to have lifted 12 cwts of bacon from the Great Southern Railway in Sligo to his lorry a distance of about 30 yards. He did this without the help of anyone.
    Mr M. Kelly is also known to be one of Ballyshannon’s strongest men For a bet he lifted the great millwheel of Mr Myles and placed it into position. The millwheel weiged 1 ton. This man lives in West Port Ballyshannon.
