    Twas Christmas Eve in Ballintra,

    ‘Twas Christmas Eve in Ballintra,
    And things were looking blue,
    Says McGinley to Paddy Hughie,
    I’ll tell you what we’ll do,
    We’ll buy a goat at 2/6
    And the half I’ll give to you.

    Christmas blew by and things were high
    And nannie was still to the fore,
    So McGinley executed nannie,
    To keep the wolf from the door.

    The half it landed in Paddy Hughie’s
    With horns and tails go leór,
    And Mary Kate goat’s flesh did heat,
    And she said she’d eat no more,
    But big long Paddy with salt and tatty,
    Himself shure he did fill
    But when he got sick,
    To his surprise
