  1. Bonfire night was always celebrated in the Farney District. The scene of celebrations was usually a crossroads. A fire of old sticks and whins was kindled in the centre of the triangular green patch.
    The boys and girls partaking in the celebrations sat around the fire and whiled away the hours in telling stories and singing songs.
