    Should the charge fail according to the verdict of the Judge the defendant took hold of the accuser by the ear and marched him round as before and back to his original position where he had to withstand another 'slap' from someone else. The accused kept repeating the words -" You have the wrong sow by the lug" while he was marching his accuser up and down the line.
    Where the Game was Played:-
    Usually in a barn; never in the kitchen of the wake-house.
    I have, when a boy, seen the above game played on several occasions.

  2. This was a most popular game at wakes in the Broomfield district. It was also played at wakes.
    A lighted candle was placed on the floor. Two young fellows got an ashen stick about 5 feet long, and stood astride it one behind the other. Both of them gripped the stick tightly with their hands. The fellow behind was to try and overturn the candle
