  1. Notes on Plant Lore in the Broomfield district, parish of Donaghmoyne Co. Monaghan
    Blackberries:-
    People in above district never gather blackberries after 31st October as they consider them unfit for human use -
    Reason:-
    They say that after that date (31st October) the devil shakes his shirt on the blackberries and that no one should touch them after that.
    The Common Dock:-
    The Dock Leaft is an unfailing cure
    for the sting of the nettle- while rubbing in the dock leaf to the affected part you say:-
    "Dockin, Dockin in and out
    Take the sting of the nettle out".
