The Old Fire Brigade and Ambulance.
About 25 years ago Dalkey had a fire brigade and ambulance. Before Whites Villas were built there was a big yard in which the fire brigade and ambulance stopped. The yard was situated behind the Town Hall. There were two horses on the fire brigade and one horse on the ambulance. It was a small fire brigade and had a speed of about 15 miles per hour. There were four men on the brigade. Mr. Bryney. Mr. Healy and Mr. English. There was one horse attached to the ambulance and the horse was still in use 10 years ago.
