  1. During Cromwell's time mass used to be celebrated on Dalkey Island. Soldiers came to Dalkey and hunted the people from the town. They took refuge on the island. The soldiers then tried to take possession of the island but they failed. A few days after that they took possession of it. The soldiers rowed over to it and killed the people. There was only one survivor who saved the sacred things. The soldiers went to live on the island, but had Dalkey under their control.
