    The Smugglers
    Dalkey long ago was famous for smuggling. The smugglers used to smuggle wine from Spain and France. They used to tie the casks together at night about a mile from the coast and let them float into the rocks. There is a famous hole in Bullock called the Brandy hole. It was called the Brandy hole because the smugglers used to smuggle brandy in to the hole at night. There is a cave on Convent Road called the smugglers cave. It is situated beside the sea so that they could smuggle
