  1. Long ago when people got broken legs, or tooth-aches, they would use herbs for curing them.
    For a tooth-ache; Break alum into small pieces with a heavy instrument and place a piece on the aching tooth. This will relieve the pain.
    Two teaspoonsfulls of salt in a cup of lukewarm water is a good emetic for a child who has eaten poisonous berries. Half a teaspoonful of salt in a cup of lukewarm water makes a good gargle for (the) a sore throat.
    For a cold in the head; Get a cup of hot water and a couple of handfuls of salt,
