  1. There are many people who have cures for different diseases, such as children born after their father's death. Such are able to cure thrush, which is a disease to which babies are subject. The cure is wrought by blowing the breath on the child's mouth and by prayer.
    Some people believe in putting roasted salt in a stocking and tying it round one's neck to cure a sore throat.
    There are several cures for sore eyes such as bathing the eyes in cold tea.
    Mrs Healy told me she was cured of an ulcerated leg, by a woman who lives in Inchicore. She uses the white of an egg to make an ointment. This trouble is cured by prayer and the ointment.
