  1. Certain persons had a cure for this disease. They kept the secret in their own families.
    A woman born in Meath had the cure. She got it from her mother.

    THE CURE
    She beat the yolk of an egg and put it on the tow of flax. She painted the throat of the affected person with the beaten egg on the tow.
    She then pulled the hairs on the top of the head until the skin of the head cracked. At the same time she prayed, and blessed the head of the patient.
    While she prayed, the patient was cured.
