    The Graveyard at Old Esker contd and west.

    This graveyard is closed for years. There were some burials in it after it ceased to be used by the public.
    A man named Mr Merriman from Palmerstown was buried there about 1 (?) year ago

    In the year 1807 a priest named Father Mc Carten, or Mc Carthy was murdered...

    In the year 1807 a priest named Father McCarton or McCarthy was murdered on the road which turns off the main road towards the lower end of Lucan village and the Woollen Mills.
    There is a flag inserted in the high wall to mark the spot where the foul deed was committed.
    On this are written the name of the priest, also the date,
