This old church is said to be built by Princess Izod, hundreds of years ago. She lived in Chapelizod, and came up every day, with her handmaids to pray and to hear Mass in this old church, or oratory.
There are very old tombstones in the graveyard. The inscriptions are effaced in many of them. Some bear dates of the seventeenth century.
