  1. The main road from Dublin to Athlone, and Galway passes by Palmerstown.
    It was one of the old stage coach roads. I heard of no incidents, robberies or otherwise in connection with that time for any of the people of the district except that those who drove the coaches rested at a house in the Mill Lane.
    There is an old archway in a very high wall at the east end of Clarkville Terrace, where the road turns northwards to the Mill Lane, from the Main Road. The archway is now closed with stones and forms part of the wall.
    This building, part of which is left, must have been one of "Stages" or stopping places
